Easter Weekend 2012

I took 356 pictures this weekend.
Just what I needed to start learning more about my new camera.
I'm in love and can't wait to capture more beautiful moments!

* All photos shot with Canon T2i DSLR camera, 50mm 1.8 lens

Overdue Trip

We finally made our way up north to visit the family.
It was long overdue since I hadn't seem my favorite tiny humans since Christmas! I was pretty sure they had grown a foot and were ready to graduate any day now.

Carson has gotten so big. And Mr. Awesome rolled over for the first time while we were there! Unfortunately, he was on his back and then i turned around and he was on his front so I missed it. Bummer.

Cade and Emme were so full of energy.
After 2 days of running, jumping, catching, and iPading, I was exhausted.
Catching serious air while jumping over blankets
She dominated Cut the Rope. Pretty sure she is better than me!
Group effort on the iPad with Leeshie
I know it may be wrong, but I can't help but crack up every time I see this picture! Emerson was playing football and happened to miss one that bounced right off her noggin... right as my camera was clicking away.

Pure coincidence that this was captured on film.
PS- She was fine, no tears or injury. Just a funny face!

My First Thanksgiving

It started out so well. I got up early and everything was going my way. .

But I suppose it wouldn't be a holiday without a freakout and some tears. The roaster I used is apparently on loan from Satan in the center of the earth and cooks with molten lava because my turkey was completely done by 9:00am. (less than 2 hours to cook a 16 lb turkey??? ::cue tears::) Terribly sorry to the Mr. Buckeye for having to deal with me- and on his birthday no less! But I was able to salvage it and keep it moist until lunch at 1.*

All in all it wasn't too bad, a tad dry but not nearly what I envisioned.

And we had way too much food but it was delicious!
For the record, I actually did eat my Aunt's Sweet Potatoes without gagging AND asked to keep a small bit for leftovers that I DID eat too! This is a huge deal.

Mama had every number candle except the 2 we needed... so we settled for the ?

And Sky wanted in on the pyrotechnics as well.

Then Saturday up to Columbus to see our favorite little people. They are getting too big, make it stop!
and see the 2 newest members of the family!
We are in full holiday swing down here now so bring on Christmas!

*Wrap the whole thing in foil, wrap the whole thing in bath towels, keep in cooler till ready to serve

2 x 4

One week ago today we celebrated the birth of my 2 favorite little people.

Of course, their real birthday isn't for a couple more days, but they are currently in Florida celebrating in the fun and sun!

It was an absolute perfect day and of course Aunt Leeshie (that would be me) ran around like paparrazi and snapped up as many pics as I could.

Here are some of my favorites.

A day at the Park

The rain let up just long enough for us to enjoy some time outside.

Of course I had to bring along the camera and snap away.

We had tons of fun on the slides, swings, and running bases at the ball field
(FYI- Twisty slides as a 5'9 twenty something year old aren't nearly as much fun as when you were younger- in fact, it's slightly terrifying when you realize your super long legs prevent a smooth descent...and you think you might have snapped a femur on the way down)

Some of my favorites:

Blessed

We spent yesterday with our one (two?) and only niece and nephew.

Emme, Leeshie, Cade, oh- and Lady Twinkletoes's fabulous pink fingernails!

But not for long because we found out earlier this week that we will be getting a new little niece or nephew come Fall because the Sister-In-Law is pregnant!

So excited!

Happy Birthday

A Quarter of A Century ago, this little ham made me a big sister.

My Brudder- age 8

Happy Birthday Bubby- if I haven't driven you to insanity by now, I'd say you are safe.

Love you!

College Graduation - Dec 2010

PS- I'm still really sorry for that day I ripped Bubby's leg off and we left it in the hotel on vacation and made you cry... Although I still do laugh about it on occasion, I still feel bad.

We will pretend you are still as young as you are in that picture...
I won't remind you how old you are today.

I'll do that tomorrow.

You're welcome.

Randomness

Fall is officially here and I couldn’t be happier! The weather has finally chilled to a crisp 60*, the clouds have come out to stay, and the leaves are falling faster than they can change color. (though I wish they would stay on the trees for at least a little bit so I can marvel at the beauty)

A lot has happened on the running front. I have completed my training and am now in taper mode. I successfully completed my 12 mile run on Saturday. I must say, I did not enjoy it. I’m just hoping and praying that I get a little bit of that joy I felt during my 10 miler. It was absolutely amazing and knowing that I am not feeling the same way during each run is just heartbreaking. I’m officially 12 days away from running my first half marathon . I feel like a manic-depressant… One minute I’m over the roof elated and so excited to know that I am so close, then the next minute I’m in a sweaty panic thinking OMG What the hell am I thinking?! It’s been a journey- that’s for sure. But hopefully in 2 weeks, I’ll be able to give a full race report as a half-marathoner! It will definitely be an experience to never forget.

On the knit front, of course I have started some new projects. The socks I began back in April have returned and I’m now on the foot. Hopefully not too much longer and I can be wearing them officially without needles poking me. There is also a gorgeous set of mittens that I started using the new wool I bought from A Wool Gathering. They are proving to be a challenge with the teeny tiny charts and twisted rib the entire way. But they will be awesome once they are finished.

On the sewing front, I finally completed my first ever quilt. It was washed without issue (ie it didn’t fall apart!) and gifted to it’s rightful new owner. (rather it’s new owners future mommy) I lost my camera the day of the shower so I’m waiting on the pics I took with her DSLR (Totally jealous!) Along with the quilt I whipped up 2 adorable baby bibs using the leftover fabric and some towels. I hope little William gets lots of use out of them! I also managed to dissect and recreate an interchangeable needle case. I found an amazing case that I absolutely loved but didn’t want to spend the $$ on and figured I could try to make a worthy imposter. It turned out fantastic if I do say so myself. Obviously it’s imperfect and I could make a few adjustments, but my KnitPicks Harmonies are loving their new home!

More tomorrow. I’ve got to get back on a blogging schedule. I prefer organized- topic focused posts and lately it’s been a hot mess.

At least I get to go to Ma’s tonight for some spaghetti!

Go Birdie... it's your birthday... we gonna party like...

IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!

To the women who birthed me years and years ago,

You look fabulous!

Your hair is holding up well considering how many times you could have pulled it out over the years. (and the copious amounts of peroxide over the years haven't helped either I'm sure)

You have yet to embrace the old lady fashion sense that I suspect could be right around the corner (I'll have not forgotten the sweatshirt with the ice skating penguins you wore last winter...)  though I will try my hardest to prevent you from ever wearing shoulder pads ever again.

And most importantly, you've managed to raise 2 of the most amazing, good looking, all around rock-star human beings out there.

In all seriousness though- Thanks for being an awesome mom. I know I've driven you crazy more times that I've kept you sane. But I hope you know it's all in love.

Happy Birthday!

Love,

Your One and Only-

Your sun, moon, and stars-

Your whole wide world-

Wheatie

Toes in the Sand, Poop in the Pool

So I headed 4 hours north to the fabulous island of Put In Bay over the weekend for Ashley's bachelorette party. It was a quick 48 hours of fun in the sun. We couldn't have asked for anything better.... well, except for one thing.

Saturday we stayed at the pool all day. Well, until the incident. One person had to go and ruin it all. They put the POO in Pool. Literally. Mr I can't hold my booze or control my bodily functions started off with a fabulous vom-fest all over the front of himself. Upon cleaning himself up with the aid of a few grossed out girls he proceeded to go cool off in the pool. Now he either really had to go, or sharted himself like it was no one's business because within a few minutes there were girls screaming to get out of the pool! FECES! IN. THE. POOL! WTF are you kidding me? He took off within moments so no one saw where he went. We happened to be roughly 10 feet away from where the incident happened and I'd be lying if I said I didn't think I needed a tetnus shot after being in that water at the time. Of course, the pool was shut down and I hope to God that they shocked the hell out of that pool. Between the tanning lotion, booze, bugs, dirt, and fecal matter, they pretty much should have just filled it with cement and started over.

Other than that minor poo-storm, the rest of the weekend was absolutely fabulous.

I didn't take my camera so the below photos are courtesy of Britt.

Bride to Be!

No photo of the pool in the pool, but here's some toes in the sand (you're welcome)

Britt and I discovered we are part-Cullen with our sparklyness

Oh yeah, and I got iced. Thanks Kristen.

Don't know what getting iced is? Go to Youtube and look up You Got Iced! or Bros Icing Bros

Put a sweater on... your beer!

My cousin Brandon returned home from Iraq last month after his third? fourth? tour. Who knows, I lost count.

He is totally awesome and the biggest Indianapolis Colts fan I know.

He saw my winning entry from the Speed Knitting competition at the Knitting Olympics and requested one for himself- only a Colts jersey if possible.

I happily obliged and chose a different sweater cozie pattern and modified it to include a bit of fair isle colorwork of my own design :)

It's a bit late considering I started back in March and it hibernated a while, but it's in plenty of time for football season.

I think he'll like it.

Sidenote: C25K = Couch to 5 k
W3D3: (week 3, day 3) Saturday- MUCH better turnout compared to the dissapointing run on Thursday. I ran intervals of 5.5 and 6.0 with walking at 4.0. final: 2.1 miles in 28 minutes.
