Slacker

Holy wow, I've been a slacker blogger lately. My super apologies.

The weekend was here and gone before we knew it. I took off work on Friday in order to prepare for our annual P-fest this weekend. There was a mountain of laundry to tackle (success!) and cleaning and errand running to be done before the troops arrived on Saturday.

After a highly productive Friday, I woke up Saturday and went out for my long distance run. A personal distance record for me! 6 miles! IN. THE. RAIN. and did I mention it was uphill? My calves and shins were screaming at me for the first 2 miles and I wanted to give up. Luckily I was on a loop so there was no where to keep going except further!

I wish I had photos to share of the party, but alas my camera stayed hidden. But it was a great time had by all. The basement reveal went awesome and everyone was impressed with the 180* change that took place since last year when they visited. I'll be able to reveal here soon. Promise!

Sunday was spent at the shop and I got in some quality knitting time followed by a 3 hour nap. I definitely needed it!

Monday was another 5k during lunchtime and tomorrow I'm looking forward to girl's night. Hosted Chez Buckeye. Luckily the house is already clean from the weekend :)

Catching up on some DVR and bedtime!

Toes in the Sand, Poop in the Pool

So I headed 4 hours north to the fabulous island of Put In Bay over the weekend for Ashley's bachelorette party. It was a quick 48 hours of fun in the sun. We couldn't have asked for anything better.... well, except for one thing.

Saturday we stayed at the pool all day. Well, until the incident. One person had to go and ruin it all. They put the POO in Pool. Literally. Mr I can't hold my booze or control my bodily functions started off with a fabulous vom-fest all over the front of himself. Upon cleaning himself up with the aid of a few grossed out girls he proceeded to go cool off in the pool. Now he either really had to go, or sharted himself like it was no one's business because within a few minutes there were girls screaming to get out of the pool! FECES! IN. THE. POOL! WTF are you kidding me? He took off within moments so no one saw where he went. We happened to be roughly 10 feet away from where the incident happened and I'd be lying if I said I didn't think I needed a tetnus shot after being in that water at the time. Of course, the pool was shut down and I hope to God that they shocked the hell out of that pool. Between the tanning lotion, booze, bugs, dirt, and fecal matter, they pretty much should have just filled it with cement and started over.

Other than that minor poo-storm, the rest of the weekend was absolutely fabulous.

I didn't take my camera so the below photos are courtesy of Britt.

Bride to Be!

No photo of the pool in the pool, but here's some toes in the sand (you're welcome)

Britt and I discovered we are part-Cullen with our sparklyness

Oh yeah, and I got iced. Thanks Kristen.

Don't know what getting iced is? Go to Youtube and look up You Got Iced! or Bros Icing Bros

Three!

I never did share any photos from my 2 favorite little people's birthday party.

And sadly, I don't have a bunch to share.

But seriously. They are getting too big. Way too big. They need to stop growing, like right now.

Birthday girl ready to party!

He's missing something- get the kid his sunglasses!

Dora and Thomas. Duh.

The wonderful woman who birthed these 2 babes. She. is. awesome. Oh and Dad is in the background there too. He's pretty cool too. Together, they make beautiful babies. Wouldn't you agree?

Olympics

Knitting Olympics that is :)

Warning: this post is all about knitting and has lots of pictures. :)

I was lucky enough to be a part of my first knitting Olympics this year at Lambikins Hideaway.

See, the way it works is that during the Olympics (Summer or Winter) the knitters and crocheters of the world get together and host their own version of this awesome event. What happens is everyone picks their "olympic projects." It must be a challenge, it must be something that you think you can complete in the 2 weeks Olympic time, and it must be something that YOU pick, oh and it can't be started until the Opening Ceremonies.

(You can "train" by knitting up swatches and figuring out your needle sizes and gauge though, but no casting on for the actual project!)

Lambikins hosted an Olympic Party, there was lots of great food to eat, and 2 events that we could compete in that night!

First up was Blindfolded Knitting.

That's Leslie- She's a hoot.

This is Mindy, she's totally focused.

A sampling of the blindfolded Knitting. Hallie's is the orange one, mine is the pink one, and Donna... poor Donna. Hers is the bottom one. She had a terrible ribbon to work with and well, it didn't turn out quite like the rest of ours. But that's okay. She still rocks at lace!!

The medal winners. Hallie (Gold) Genevieve (Silver) Me (Bronze)

After a bit more snacking it was time for speed knitting. Now since Leslie and Genevieve are the 2 fastest knitters this side of the Mississippi, they had to be handicapped just a little bit. They were given this Hairy, difficult to work with eyelash yarn. Christina said GO! and I took off, knitting faster than my eyes could see (I kid, but for reals, I was quick!)

The results of my speed knitting race. It's a Beer Sweater!

I was so quick I won the Gold Medal!!!
Hallie popped up right at the same time as Genevieve (Silvers), followed closely by Leslie (Bronze)

We then spent the rest of the time watching the Opening Ceremonies on TV, eating, and chatting and just having a really fun time.

Until I had to frog my Gretel Hat. After only doing 5 rows... that took me about 2 hours.

But that's okay, I've recovered and am progressing quite nicely. Hopefully Gretel will be finished tonight and I can cast on for my Burberry Inspired Cowl to match.

Here's Gretel. A lovely cabled Slouchy Hat in my favorite MMMMalabrigo. The color is called Pearl. It looks Gray in the photo but it is actually a combination of gray, purple, blue, pink, green. Pretty much like a pearl! I love love it and can't wait to have a matching set to wear!

And has everyone seen the US Olympic Moose Hat? Well, I found the pattern on Ravelry and I really really want one too... so I may have to fit this into my schedule over the next week. (Lesley already got hers done! I'm so jealous!)

I mean really... how awesome is that hat?!?!

Friday... Thank Goodness!

WOOT! We finally made it to friday. Hope everyone is ready for the weekend, I know we sure are!

Remember that funny picture I mentioned yesterday? Well, here it is... the first one I took, Chloe had Laser Eyes so I had to take another and unfortunately she isn't looking at the camera. Oh well. I still think it is hilarious. The guys were just hanging out on the couch watching TV and look who jumped up to join them! haha

Cute right? And she did the same thing last night! Hopped right up there and nestled right in.
So now that I've got your attention with all the cuteness, I need your opinion.
Paint.
The bathroom is going to be red. The main room is going to be gray. This part I know. My problem is which gray?
Go there...
Reds- Page 14. Red Delicious (shown in the big photo), say hello to the bathroom color. I'm good with that.
Neutrals- Page 44. Artic Stone or Silver Dust (shown in the photo on left) HELP!!!
C'mon out of the woodwork peoples. Let me know which color you like better.
We are leaning towards one but I won't tell you which...
Thanks in advance!
Happy Friday!

So...

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous this week. Mother Nature really gave us a break. Crisp cool nights and sunny breezy days. Unfortunately my allergies have flared up out of control so I'm enjoying the days between all the sneezing, and coughing, itchy eyes, and sinus attacks. But you know what? I'll take it! Because that means that fall is upon us! I'm ready to dig out my fall smelling candles, don my long sleeve shirts and light sweaters, and break out my BUCKEYES! because It's Football Season Baby!

This weekend marks the first weekend, I believe, we will not be heading up north for the opening game. We will head over to Fungesserfest (yes they stole our name... PFest? Ring a bell?) and spend the weekend there with drinks, games, fun, and yes- some jewelry! We are ecstatic to spend the long weekend with friends it will be much needed and over before we know it!

Sunday/Monday I plan on making ribs for the first time. I'm already starving just thinking about them. Hopefully the lbs of meatballs and buffalo chicken dip we are providing for Fungesserfest will hold us over till then. I'm still trying to find the perfect recipe. I want to slow cook them in the oven and then finish them off on the grill!

Bring on the long weekend! We're ready!

PFest 2009

As promised, here are some snaps from the weekend.

Until next year!

WHEW!

Such a great time. Pfest was a success. Unfortunately (or fortunately) some people couldn't make it but we certainly had a house full and there was just enough room for everyone. It was a bit too hot to stay outside, we tend to pick the hottest days of the year... every. single. year. But it was still all good. Rockband concerts upstairs, flip cup and beer pong downstairs, and a little here and there and everyone was happy. No casualties this year so I'm thankful for that as always.

In the meantime, Britt has posted her recap of Pfest here. Take a gander. And read some of her other posts too. She's snarky and witty and totally fun- and she is learning to cook!

Pictures to be posted once I return home for the night. For now, it's back to work.

Stress?

Hmmm maybe a little bit. I returned from California ready to rock and roll... well not really, I am still half on PST and my schedule is all out of whack. But I better catch up soon because tomorrow is Pfest 2009! What started as a summer party IN 2006 to invite our college friends down to our new abode in Cinci has now launched itself to gigantic proportions and the word has spread like wildfire! Now don't get me wrong, I'm super excited to have everyone down but boy oh boy it's going to be quite an experience this year! We've got family, friends, college roomates, veterens, rookies, friends of friends, siblings, etc. and we are going to party it up in true Buckeye fashion. In fact, there will be approximately 40 people at the house tomorrow, I'm sure you'll be able to hear us in Dayton :)

Forgive me if I'm a little skittish before it starts but once the sangria and margaritas start flowing I'll be a-ok.

Party Time!

Cade and Emme's party went off without a hitch and it was a great time! The weather cooperated and the kids were just adorable. Makes me want to have kids! (eek! no! not for us... yet)

The bouncy house was a smash
Bubbles were the hit of the party

and Radio Flyer races wore the guys out more than the kids!
Emerson was a birthday princess
and Cade was ready to save the day!
It was an awesome 2nd birthday party, we are still sad we missed the first but look forward to many many more!!!
Right Luca?
:)

Bier and Bachelorettes

Well, hopefully the crickets have been keeping you all company. I've just not had the motivation to update due to my lack of pictures to post along with. Pictures just make it better don't you agree? Anyways, it was a busy weekend as usual.

We attended Germania Society's Oktoberfest on Friday. Had a wonderful Mett, Sauerkraut balls, Potato Pancakes, and a phenomenal Bavarian Cream Puff. I know I know, seriously? Okay I shared.... 1 pancake and the Cream Puff, but the rest was mine. All mine. Saturday was K's bachelorette party and it ws madness. Great fun was had by all. And I must note that I may be bad luck when it comes to certain things... the last limo I was in happened to be on my wedding day and it spontaneously combusted and decided that we should carpool to the reception instead. Well, Alisha strikes again! We ended up with 2 limos on Saturday since the first one decided to poop out on us. But we can all laugh about it and rest assured that great memories were made and the bachelorette lived it up on her last night in style!
