Sunny Sunday... for a change

And thanks to Janelle I have something to do on this fabulous sunny day!

UPDATE: That lasted all of an hour before a crash of thunder scared me back to reality. I posted that at 1:27pm. As of 2:30 It is now monsooning... again. Thank you Ohio, I was beginning to get worried since you gave us what appeared to be normal weather for a change.

Spring is officially here!

There were 2 visitors who showed up today.

They are the true sign that Spring has Sprung. They visit us every year, the same 2 ducks, the same couple. Always together. I like to think of our tiny creek as their spring home.

Completely adorable.

We will just ignore the fact that it is supposed to drop to 40* this weekend. I don't buy it.

I did manage to run 2 times this week! And it's only Tuesday! (aka I ran yesterday AND today!)
2.25 miles yesterday for Couch to 5k Week 2 Day 1 and just a mile today around the block.
Monster hill tried to choke me again.
Seriously that hill makes me want to channel Skinny Runner because I totally want to punch running in the face! every time I try to take it on.

Here Comes The Sun...

Pretend you don't see those Christmas Lights... they are an illusion.
Be do do do....

Can it be? Is that really a shining beacon I see in a bright blue sky?? It may still be colder than hell out but seeing that this morning did wonders for my soul.

...And then I remembered on the highway that I left my coffee on the counter and my badge on my slacks from yesterday. Better morning FAIL.

Blustery Day

Photo from movieposter.com

Owl: This is just a mild spring zephyr compared to the big wind of '67. Or was it, uh, '76? Oh, well, no matter. Oh, I remember the big blow well.
Piglet: I'll remember this one, too.
Owl: It was the year my Aunt Clara went to visit her cousin. Now, her cousin was not only gifted on the glockenspiel, but being a screech owl, also sang soprano in the London Opera.
Winnie the Pooh: [muffled, with a honey pot in his face] Thank you, Piglet.
Owl: You see, her constant practicing so unnerved my aunt, that she laid a seagull egg by mistake. Whoooooooo!
[his dishes crash on him as his house crashes to earth]

Gimme some of your TOTS!

Well last night the heavens opened up and the rain came down. Too bad I had gone to the grocery store first and declared I would walk around the neighborhood after dinner vs. going straight to the gym when I got home. FAIL! Look at what happened to our backyard. We totally need to talk to the township about this. Happens whenever we have a big rain. A lake emerges.

So I thought my schedule had hit a brick wall. Actually, not so much. The sky cleared enough and the temps cooled down that I was able to convince Mr. Buckeye to walk with me. A walk around the block took 30 minutes, 2 epic hills up and 2 epic hills down. It was nice to just go walk. No treadmill beeping at me and no timer staring me straight in the face. So rather than a 20 min Run/Walk last night I enjoyed a 30 minute hilly walk with my husband. I’ll count it as a win!

Plus, What did I get at the grocery store? Tater Tots and stuff for Sloppy Joe’s! (No ManWich for this girl!) My first time making from “scratch” I think I did okay. I even put the green peppers in, and I don’t even like them. But I couldn’t taste them. And I used a bit of Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ instead of brown sugar. We will just ignore the fact that Mr. Buckeye said all he could taste was green pepper. But he still ate it. So I know he was lying. It’s not my favorite but I’ll work on it. Simple, Easy, Quick, not terribly unhealthy. I’ll have to put it into rotation and keep tweaking till I love it.

S Squared

First of all- what is today?

Let me spell it out for you.

M-A-R-C-H 2-6

As in, 1 week away from Easter and 1 day closer to summer. Apparently Mother Nature is having an identity crisis or has seriously pissed off Father Winter because look what we woke up to this morning:

Are you kidding me?

And yet we are supposed to be 60* and sunny tomorrow. Let's cross our fingers and hope that is true. We have some visitors on their way down from up north and I want to go to the park!

Oh and what is that you ask?

It's 2 heels! On my socks! I'm ready to start the gussets (the sides of the heel for those folks not familiar with sock anatomy) and then move on to the foot and hopefully finished by next Saturday!

and in case you didn't catch it... s squared is for socks and snow. I didn't want to leave you confused. You're welcome.

My Favorite Season

Autumn, Fall, Indian Summer.

By far my most favorite season the entire year!

It is finally cool today, maybe not even 65* and I couldn't be happier in my big knit cardigan. If it were this time last year I would be making last minute preparations for our wedding and praying for a little drop in temperature. Thats right, this time last year we were soaring in the high 80's. Thank you global warming!

Fall is cooler temperatures, leaves changing colors, apple picking, pumpkin picking, FOOTBALL, warm sweaters, baking, hay rides, corn mazes, I could go on and on and on!

Sure it may be the busiest time of the year for Patrick and I as we have something planned for typically ever weekend in the fall but we wait for this time of year to come for the first 8 months of spring and summer.

Now with the season in full effect I can start doing some season changes- the most fun for me is the decorating and the baking! I can't wait to make a Pumpkin Roll and Pumpkin Zuccini Bread! (They are delicious I promise!)

Of Course I will share with you... maybe. If there is enough.

A Very Blustery Day!

We returned from Columbus yesterday to find that we were in the middle of a windstorm! With no power! As of 10:50am today we still don't have power. So much for the food in the refrigerator. Guess a shopping trip will be in order.

Here is a little preview of the havoc that we have seen here in our neck of the woods.

We were extremely lucky and this was the most damage we had:

But right down the street our neighbors weren't so lucky.

Neither was the lady down the street from my mom.

It was bad. Real bad.

My mom's happens to have power (miraculously came on this morning even though across the street and surroundings still are black) so I'm holding it down here to charge up. Cross your fingers we will be back soon!
