First Run
So Tuesday I headed back to the gym for my tri-weekly spin class beatdown.
It was absolutely freezing outside and I didn't want to go. But I did.
But holy hell if that spin class wasn't cancelled and the next class was an hour later.
I was not in the mood to wait around for an hour so I decided to go say hello to my old friend- the treadmill.
I walked my .1 mile warmup and then pounded out a mile at the quickest pace I could manage and challenged myself. That pace ended up between a 10 minute mile and 11 minute mile. Not too shabby for my first real run since the half marathon. At that point, however I felt like my lungs were going to explode from my chest and walked about a quarter mile. Ran again only this time at a 10 min pace. Walk a little bit. Ran a few intervals at a 6.5/7.0 pace and then had enough when I got to 2.65 miles I called it quits- I was at 33 minutes at this point. I was bummed that I didn't do a full 5k (and I didn't run the entire time) but I pushed myself and it felt good.
I followed up with a 20 minute session on the elliptical where I acted as if I was climbing a hill- steadily increasing the incline and the resistance as I went.
Starting over is not fun- but it's got to be done.
My goal for 2011 is 2 half marathons. I would like to race in the spring and the fall. It can, let me rephrase that- it WILL be done!

Spill The Beans
I have managed to keep a secret for about a month.
Completely and totally secret except for family.
I got a new job.
And it starts on Monday.
I can't lie, I'm kind of freaking out. It's going to be a change. A BIG CHANGE! But change is good right? I'll be incredibly sad to leave my current job because I do enjoy what I do and who I work with/for. But the more I thought about it and wondered, could I really pass up an amazing opportunity out of fear of the unknown?
I think not.

Oh the weather outside is frightful...
And caused our power to go out twice yesterday.
And yet the roads are completely clear and free from snow today.
And yet the kids still had school cancelled.
Pansies...
I mean, ouch, that was kind of mean. I am really just jealous of their snow day.
In all reality we had a good weekend (save for the power outage) Went to Best Buy and dinner on Friday night, more shopping on Saturday followed by a night on the town with some friends, followed up on Sunday by doing absolutely nothing except laying in PJs all day until 5 when we braved the storm to go get some groceries.
At least the snowblower got it's first round of activity for Winter 2010/2011!

Fill in the Blank Friday
1. I wish I could easily find the motivation that I had during training for the half marathon. (and I those damn spin cycle bikes had softer or larger seats. I forgot how much of a pain in the rear-literally- spinning is!) .
2. Yesterday I actually followed through and went to the gym. Even though I didn't want to with even ounce of my being. But it was good .
3. Today I will ice my bum and eat hershey kisses all night. KIDDING! I may go back to the gym for a quick mile- I terribly WANT to start running again .
4. Tomorrow I will revisit my Christmas list and try to tackle the rest of persons I am in need of buying for. I will also finish decorating the mantle and take the stuffs back to storage .
5. Maybe I will make it over to Lambikins for some quiet knitting time- I haven't had a lot of that recently and it bums me out .
6. Someday I will not be a crazy drama queen... actually probably not, maybe that should be for number one- I can wish right? .
7. I love having an amazing husband, family, and group of friends who love me for me in spite of all my crazyness and drama .

running out of time
Sitting here I just realized that there are only 16 days till Christmas. I have some serious shopping to do!
In other news, I went to the gym for the first real time since the half marathon. I ended up in an hour long spin class and my legs are now wet noodles unable to support my body. I'll be here in the couch for the duration of the night if you need me.
