What a weekend! Some shopping (too! much! shopping!) some knitting, some friend time, some kick butt running, some relaxation, some basement progress... man I'm exhausted just thinking about it!
Friday started off with work, obviously. And ended with us going to look at a new dryer. If we run our dryer it sounds like we are in a horror movie- think the shower scene from Psycho... only turn the decibles up a few notches and throw it on fast forward. It's time for a new one. It was a bit late though so we decided to wait till Sunday to make the final decision.
Saturday was a me day. Mr Buckeye headed up north for a post-wedding bachelor party. (Wrap your head around that one!) and I went out to the track to tackle my first long distance run. I pretty much set myself up to not have a great run. I waited till 11am when the sun was shining high in the sky, didn't eat any breakfast, and hadn't hydrated properly. But I did my 5 miles. 66 minutes and 53 seconds later I was finished. Not my best. But at least I know I did it. Sat evening was spent with the girls- who asked me to teach them to knit! I'm a proud mama when I say that BOTH! of them learned how to knit while the 2 year olds played nicely AND they both finished their first project on Sunday. I think they've caught the bug and I'm honored to be able to share the hobby I love. Plus, I was told I'm a good teacher so warm fuzzies all around!
Sunday was shopping... we bought the aforementioned dryer (the matching one to our washer) and that will be stacked on Wednesday. We also bought a new TV. The hubs won (and secretly I'm thrilled too) and we bought a new TV that will actually have a new home in the basement. We got an amazing deal so we couldn't pass it up. We also bought a blu-ray home theater system as well so we can movie watch with surround sound! Unfortunately, the TV has already been moved to the basement so now we have to move it back upstairs so the new TV can take it's rightful place on Wednesday as well. We did, however, already set up the surround sound- as in we ran the wires through the ceiling, up the wall, etc. We did it right- and it sounds awesome!
And since today is almost over, I got my run in today as well.
A PR for me! (PR=personal record)
I busted out my 3 miles in 35 minutes and 47 seconds!
I beat my best time be over 2 minutes! and I couldn't be happier!
Have a great week! I know I started mine off right!

There's Another Her...
Yes, you heard me correct. Another lady has stolen my husband's heart. Actually, I'm kinda sweet on her too.
Allow me to introduce you to Megan:

She will be joining us in 4 short weeks and take her place as a centerpiece in our new basement.
She'll have a wardrobe change though and be showcased in a fabulous Black Cherry Finish with either a Burgundy or Red cloth cover (We get to pick when she gets here!)
We've officially begun the basement- no turning back now. Megan needs a fabulous home!
Right now, as I sit here in the office, the guys are on their way to begin the transformation. We are so unbelievably excited and grateful that we have such awesome family and friends that can help us out.
Now I just need to keep the brown paper bag handy to breathe into when I feel faint... like now.

Mark your Calendar!
So it's getting to the end of 2009 and with the end of a new year comes resolutions, extra pounds, freezing cold weather, and...
A NEW DATEBOOK!

I picked up this lovely bit at Barnes and Noble over the weekend and am so thrilled! (Even the gal at the checkout commented that it was too cute) I've already started marking birthday and anniversaries and holidays in it. (I may or may not have been in BW3's filling up the pages with said events)
I just love agenda books. I even remember back in high school I had a datebook that was filled to the brim with notes, events, drawings, etc. It was a thing of beauty. Perhaps it gives me a sense of accomplishment but I just get all warm and fuzzy inside when I can make a list and cross things off. Surely I can't be the only one who will add things I've already done to a list just so that I can cross them off!

Back to the Grind
Our goal of completely Christmas shopping was ALMOST reached over the weekend. Seriously. 5 hours later and we have 2 gifts left to purchase (actually 1 is an exchange and the other is a purchase) so i'd say we did pretty well. Yesterday was spent knitting away (well, I was at least) while P headed up north for work again. He's been gone every week for at least a day for 4 weeks now. We can't wait for December to be over so we can get back on some sort of schedule. I am itching to get back into the kitchen (that would mean I have to go to the grocery store... like asap!) and get us back to our regularly scheduled programming. I've never been so great at the cooking for one thing so often I resort to noodles, canned goods, or take-out. My body has never been more angry at me. I guess I'm just prepping myself for a bit of new years resolution?
Back to the knitting. I've been working on these adorable little boy pants called "Longies" for a friend and I swear yesterday I thought they would be the death of me. After thinking I had done the short rows incorrectly not once but 6 times, I ripped the entire thing out and started over... only to find out that I had in fact done them correctly and now had to redo them again. (Short rows are done in the "bum" area of the pants and give them extra length and bulk to fit over diapers.) So I finally caught up to where I was and decided to keep going. Now I discover I have these ugly "ladders" in one section and I'm bound and determined to just work them out instead of ripping back again. I've almost got it to where you can't see them. And maybe only I can see them because I know they are there. I'll ask the gals at knit night tonight. I'm hoping to get the rest of the body and part of the gusst (the part that goes between the legs) done today so I can maybe get these pants on B's bottom before 2010!
Well, back to work- I need to stay focused since I'm only working 4 days a week in December :)
Oh and not to rub it in or anything but I only have 6 days left of work in 2009. Neener!
